London

Hi All,

I am finally writing to everyone since I seem to be really lousy at emailing. So this blog is about my experiences in London. You will see a lot of pictures of places and things you have seen in the travel guides because I am a tourist. Then again you will probably see pictures they wouldn't ever put in the travel guides. All will probably be accompanied by my own strange sense of humor.

First of all I am over here working on a moth project at the Natural History Museum. The butterfly from above is in the Creepy Crawlies area of the museum. You are probably going to see a lot of insect related pics so be prepared.

This is of course what you see when you first enter the museum. I visited during the week so notice the lack of people. I'll include a few more pics of the outside next time. I'll also show what it's like on a weekend, yuck. Admission is free but I hope you like crowds. Anyway they are in the middle of reorganizing and adding on so they have moved all the Lepidoptera (moths and Butterflies) and a few other small insect orders off-site. They will apparently stay here until the rennovation project is completed (sometime late 2008). The site is called the Wandsworth facility (see next pic). Not much to look at on the outside but the Lep collection on the inside is the largest and arguably best in the world.

This is all for now. I hope to add more in just a few minutes. Just need to see how this looks.

Hi Dave, the pictures are great! Are you really there? How 'bout a few shots of you downing some fish & chips... or meeting the Queen... Have you been to a castle yet? Do keep us in the blogloop and watch out for those buses!

Dave, It is so good to hear from you! I am so jealous you are in London -- I love London! Great idea to start a blog, please keep me in the loop. I promise to keep my comments g-rated :) The pictures are great, but I agree with Jeff; let's see some with you in them! When do you come back to the states?

Love, Rebecca

Hi Dave!! I'm happy you seem to be having a pip pip cheerio time in London. I've never posted comments on a blog, so if this doesn't work, just blame Adam. We both want to come and see you before you leave - that is, if you'll have us. We don't want to embarrass you or anything since we are probably not as civilized as you, being a Londoner and all. After a month in London, it's official. You're a Londoner. Did you know that? I'll bet you have an accent and all. While, drink a pint for us at the local pubs (take some bloddy pictures of yourself!) and let's talk soon.

I hope you enjoyed Don Giovanni, I saw it in Prague at the Estates Theater where it was originally performed by Mozart! I am hoping to visit you before you leave. I'm not sure when - still working out the details. Make sure to try some mead! See you soon!

Love,
Rebecca
